Conclusion
With this software I was able to convert several clips and movies to DVD movies and play it using standard players.
The quality of the conversion is very good, but there’s a catch here though, the source clip or movie has to have some quality too.
In my tests I had used a WMV file of 3 minutes to convert, this was a small format clip that displayed artifacts when stretched out to full screen.
When you convert such a file, you will still have those artifacts.
This program doesn’t filter out any anomalies for audio or video, it will just convert.
DivxToDVD does create a menu for you, weather you use multiple movies or just one. It doesn't let you control how the menu's are created. This means that you can't select the menu layout or get an extra menu for selecting chapters.
With regards to speed, it’s simple, it takes it time to convert and get it right.
The conversion will try and take up as much resources as it can and the speed is also dependant on the movie type it’s converting, but don’t expect a 1 hour movie converted in 25 minutes.
One thing I liked was the fact that it did check the audio and video synchronization and where necessary fix it.
All in all this DivXToDVD is very useful to fully automate conversion and writing of your favorite movies or clips to DVD.
One thing that sort of bothered me was that since I started and have done this review, I have seen 4 version changes come by, in the span of 2 weeks.
Now updating is a good thing, but if the change rate is that high, I’m starting to think there might be a lot of bugs in the program or that the company is not very confident about their product.
