Usage

During the startup you will be asked to use the trial mode of the software or visit the VSO website to make a purchase. If you choose Try, you get the fully working package, except that every file you encode will display a trial message.
The buy option will allow you to buy a license with which you can then unlock the software and of course you can always quit while you’re ahead.
After that message a brief message appears if you would like it to check for updates each time it starts.

The layout is simple and easy to use. When you add a movie using the file menu or pressing insert, you can adjust the settings first before converting the movie. Each movie will appear in the main screen in a list from which you can re-arrange the order they will appear in on your finished project.

By inserting several movies at once in the list, you will merge several clips or movies into one DVD. With the icons on the side or the menu items in the menu you can change the order of movies to convert easily.
This way when you merge several clips or movies, you can determine the order in which they are played beforehand. You can also see some summary information about the movie you are about to convert.
In the Window menu you can choose to enable the log to view before, during or after conversion. This might help you if you run into any problems. In the same window you can enable or disable the video preview, to see what the clip or movie you just added is about.
Pressing the convert button will start the process with the settings you chose.
If you didn’t add a movie, the convert button will ask you to add a movie and proceed to convert with the settings last used.

The results are stored in the DivXToDVD folder in the default location which is the “my documents” folder, using the filename of the movie you added as folder name.
You can choose to burn those files to DVD right after conversion and even to include the original files; these are the standard settings which can be disabled.
DivXToDVD detects if the folder name is already in use and will ask you if you are sure you want to use it, after which it will clear anything that was in the folder.
Adjusting the settings for a movie shows you all the defineable options available for the program.
Let’s go through them briefly, there are some items I want to show you on the next page of this review.
