Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R D/L media review (outdated)

Conclusion

Conclusion:

The Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R D/L media burnt perfectly at speeds of 2.4x and 4x over burning with CopyToDVD, recording either data DVD or Video ISO images on our Pioneer DVR 108 using firmware 1.10.

All the software DVD Players played the DVD without error except for the Technics DVD Player and the Samsung Combo drive. Most importantly with a new type of recordable media, the Verbatim DVD+R D/L also passed all the verification tests meaning no errors where found and we had a reliable backup of our important records even at the over burnt sped of 4x.

Verbatim are amongst the top 2 manufacturers of DVD+R D/L media with this being their first generation DVD+R D/L offering, and what was impressive was how this media was able to be over burnt at 4x on the Pioneer DVR 108 and NEC 3500A D/L drives without error. No skipping was noticed during playback of the movie files that was recorded onto this media when inserted in a PS2 games console which we thought might have had some problems reading the media.

We feel this media has kept up with Verbatim' s promise to always produce quality media and as is usual with Verbatim media, there is always room to record at faster than its rated speed. With Double Layer media prices expected to reduce significantly over the next few months this media may become as popular as it 4x and 8x DVD+/-R media predecessors have been.

  • CopyToDVD 3.0.27
