Traxdata 16x DVD-R media review

Introduction

Note: As always, please ensure your DVD Writer has the latest firmware to get the best compatibility with this new media.

Traxdata media have recently released a new line of 16x-R media and Conrexx/Ritek Europe have asked CDR-Zone to fully test their latest high speed media and show the results for our readers benefit. Traxdata have chosen to stay with their manufacturer of choice in Ritek which is a leading maufacturer and well established company. The Traxdata 16x+R range started of with quite bad support from leading recording device manufacturers such as NEC (4x max rated ) and so special attention will be shown to see if better communication between Traxdata and NEC have produced a disc supported at its rated speed during this review.

“Providing new types of optical media to the market continues RITEK’s global status as a technology leader in the optical media storage industry”, says Floris Evers, Marketing Manager, Conrexx Technology (RITEK Europe). “These increasing speeds demand an exact production process as well as the highest quality materials and cutting edge technology. The new Traxdata discs consistently achieve these requirements and that is due to the great success of RITEK’s research and development capabilities.

The new media is designed to offer digital recording storage and reproduction of data, images, video and music. They offer full compatibility with the drives currently on the market to ensure stability and reliability.”

Our review media came to us in 50 jewel cases, each jewel case being shrink wrapped and very nice and tightly packed boxes of 5 ensuring no damage could be caused during shipping. No printable version is available as yet but hopefully plans for production of a printable version will come soon. The disc itself displays the now familiar silver colour emblazed with the Traxdata logo and users of Traxdata media will be very familiar with the design.
