Traxdata 2.4x DVD+R D/L media review

Conclusion

Conclusion:

The Traxdata 2.4x DVD+R D/L media burnt perfectly at 2.4x and an over speed of 4x using both CopyToDVD, recording either data DVD or Video ISO images on our NEC 3500.

All the software DVD Players played the DVD without error and so did the more modern Bush standalone DVD player ( please see above table for full test results ).

Out of all the DVD Writers that we had to test with, only the Samsung 352 N CD\DVD Combo and Plextor 708 DVD+/-RW where unable to read the Traxdata DVD+R D/L media, although all tested standalone DVD readers that where used in the tests recognised the media with no problems. Hopefully firmware updates will come out to allow the reading of DVD+R D/L media on more incompatible PC hardware soon..

Most importantly with a new type of recordable media, the Traxdata DVD+R D/L also passed all the verification tests meaning no errors where found and we had a reliable backup of our important records.

Traxdata are amongst the forerunners of DVD+R D/L media with this being their first generation DVD+R D/L offering, and what was impressive was how compatible this new media was. No skipping was noticed during playback of the movie files that was recorded onto this media when inserted in a PS2 games console which we thought might have had some problems reading the media. The recorded Data DVD project files where easily transferable back to the source hard drive from the Traxdata media and displayed no errors.

The Traxdata DVD+R D/L media is very attractive in appearance, the front branding consisting of 2 shades of gold with the the Traxdata logo clearly displayed in white on the front and enough space to clearly label the media. The Traxdata DVD+R D/L indeed is amongst the most appealing media we have reviewed at CDR-Zone.COM and to match this comes great compatibility with modern DVD standalone and PC players.
