Our test media arrived in a box of 5, with each media having its own jewel case ensuring no damage could be done to the discs.
The top writing surface of the disc is frosted with the Traxdata logo. The spines of the jewel case have a printed white space for writing on for clear labeling of your medias contents.
The recording surface is a deep grey and carries the Ritek dye code according to VSO Inspector and DVDInfo.
These re-writeable discs are very similar in design as the Traxdata 8x DVD-R discs we reviewed earlier, and use the same frosted design also.
VSO softwares new Media information utility - VSO Inspector was used for gathering our
information about the inserted media, DVDInfoPro and CDCheck, were used to check the recorded DVD for errors and compare the recordered files against the original ones. The hardware used for this review consisted of the Pioneer A107 XLB, Plextor 708 DVD+/-RW and the NEC 2510a Dual layer drives.
As the above screenshot from VSO Inspector shows, the Media Code/Manufacturer ID of RITEK W04 which is proof that it manufactured with the well proven re-recordable many times dye by RITEK.
DVD Info comfirming the media code:
Available burning speeds in both our Pioneer 107 XLB and Plextor 708 showed 2x and 4x recording available, although under the first firmware release of 2.15, The NEC 2510a would only see these as 2x rated - something we hope will be resolved with a newer firware upgrade..
Capacity of the disc was 4.38 GB and compatiability problems should not be present with both PC and newer standalone DVD Players.RITEK are acclaimed as one of the best brands of DVD-RW media in todays market, producing one of the most compatiable dyes around - Utilizing superb premium organic dye that ensures stable writing with excellent quality.
