VSO software's new Media information utility - VSO Inspector and Nero CD Speed from ahead software was used for gathering our information about the inserted media, and CD Speeds Disc quality test was used to check the recorded DVD for errors and compare the reordered files against the original ones. The hardware used for this review was the BEN Q 1600 which had the free upgrade to the 1620 applied to it and the Pioneer DVR 108.
As the screenshot from VSO Inspector shows, the Media Code/Manufacturer ID of TY G02 which is proof that it manufactured with the well proven recordable dye by leading media manufacturer Taiyo Yuden. With over 10 years of experience in the media world. Taiyo Yuden are well renowned for being amongst the best most reliably dyes on the market.

Nero CD Speed confirming the Media ID code in the Pioneer DVR 108:

Available recording speeds in Pioneer 108 with firmware 1.10 showed 1x up to 12x recording speeds available, and just like with both our Traxdata and Verbatim 8x-R reviews, the Pioneer DVR 108 was capable of recording to these media at an overspeed of 12x by default.
Capacity of the disc was 4.7 GB and to be classed as a good media, compatibility problems should not be present with both PC and newer standalone DVD Players.
During this review we will test this media on various PC and Standalone DVD players to see if any have problems in reading the recorded media and to check if compatibility is maintained with existing DVD video players and DVD ROM drives.
Taiyo Yuden CDR and previous 2x and 4x DVD media have proven to be highly compatiable in a huge variety of devices and the 8x-R should show no errors during our tests and playback on standalone DVD players known to play DVD-R media.
