Recording and Verification tests
Recording:
The standard CDR-Zone.COM recording tests where used to test the DVD-R Media at various recording speeds, these being CopyToDVD from VSO-software
and Nero Burning Rom to record a series of Video and Data DVD discs on the NEC
2510A at its rated 8x speed.
We will also see if the Pioneer DVDR 108 can indeed
'over speed' this 8x-R media at 12x and see if over speeding this media will introduce any unwanted errors on the disc under its present firmware.
'A' grade media carrying the Taiyo Yunden dye MID code should be more than capable of over speeding to 12x without any errors being introduced and so this should give us an indication to the Mirror Platinum 8x DVD-R media's quality.

Recording time taken at 8.0x = 8 minutes 25 seconds

Verification and error checking:
VSO Inspector was used to check the recorded DVD-R for any bad sectors that might be present. As the screenshot below shows, no bad sectors where found during the scan
of this media:

Additional tests where carried out using both , CD Speed and CDCheck
to see if any of these tests could find any errors with the Mirror Platinum 8x
DVD-R media.
CD Check reporting no errors on checking the recorded media:

Over Speeding test:
The Pioneer DVR 108 supports a feature called 'Over speeding of
media' which allows for recording past the manufacturers rated recording speed
as long as supported fully by the DVR 108 from Pioneer. According to Both VSO
Inspector and CD Speed, this disc should be capable of 12x over speeding.
VSO Inspector showing 12x overspeeding available for the Mirror Platinum 8x DVD-R media:

After successfully recording for 12x for nearly 22% of the total
recording time, the disc finished recording at 8x and took a total of 7 minutes
49 seconds to record a full 4.35 GB of data. Once checked with CD Speeds error
file and surface scan utility, it was noticeable that at the same place that the
12x over speeding took place, that non readable errors where present.
