Infiniti Electric Blue16x DVD-R review

home - reviews - dvd media reviews

Posted on 30 Nov 2006 by SirQUK

Introduction

Medea International have recently released a new addition to their Samurai branded recordable media range. They contacted me and asked if I could give it the usual CDR-ZOne.COM treatment. Always happy to run the thumb over a new recordable media, and having a couple of recording devices new to the basement, it didn't take long before the packaging was ripped open, and the sound of whirling drives could be heard.

So go grab a cup of tea, and get ready to see what I thought about the Infiniti Electriic Blue 16x DVD-R media whilst subjecting it to the usual array of Zone speed and quality tests. With special thanks to Steve and the gang over at SVP for supplying the latest additions to the hardware crew - the Optiarc AD-7173A and Samsung SHM 182M 18x capable DVD writers.

The review media came to me in a spindle of 25 and users of Infiniti media will note that the very familiar and unique Samurai design . The Infiniti Electric Blue 16x DVD-R media uses a dye manufactured by CMC Magnetics in Taiwan, one of the biggest makers of recordable media in the world today. Many media brands are using this type of dye from CMC Magnetics as it is cheap and compatiable with many types of hardware, making it an ideal soltion for most users needs.

For the real media quality enthusiast, the batch number codes on the inner circle of the media are clearly marked CMDR47G-CTMWM0J-B07 and 0507 respectively. There is no jewel case version available at the time of writing this review, and judging by the previous Samurai range of media from Infiniti, in an attempt to keep costs as low as possible I doubt one will be made available.
