Infiniti 16x DVD+R media review

home - reviews - dvd media reviews

Posted on 7 May 2005 by SirQUK

Introduction

Note:

As always, please ensure your DVD Writer has the latest firmware to get the best compatibility with this media. DVD Writer manufacturers will reguarly release new firmwares with better support for various media.

Infiniti media have just released a new line of 16x+R media under their Pro branding and Medea International have asked CDR-Zone to fully test it and show the results for our readers benefit.

Available in both White Top and Printable versions that the Pro range has to offer, Infiniti have chosen to go with the same dye as used in the Verbatim 16x+R review we published a few months ago for our readers.

The fact that Infiniti have chosen to again use such a well established company as Mitsibushi chemicals( the company that makes the Verbatim dye ) to produce their first ever range of 16x+R media is hopefully a very good sign that they are taking their media very seriously. We recently published a review of the Infiniti 16x-R media which also used a dye produced by Mitsibushi Chemicals Corp and after getting some very nice results with the Infiniti 16x-R media we are very hopeful that the 16x+R version will be equally as good during this review.

Some information on the media from Infiniti:

16x DVD+R media has arrived!

Medea International are living up to their reputation of being at the forefront of the recordable media market with the introduction of 16x+R Infiniti® DVD.

  • Another first for Infiniti® with 16x DVD
  • 16x Infiniti® Professional and 16x Infiniti® Samurai in stock now
  • New pack designs that really stand out
  • Wider range of compatibility + more burners supported
  • Ability to write a complete DVD in less than 6 minutes
  • View our technical info sheet here ( Adobe Acrobat required )

Our review media came to us in 2 spindles of 25, both being the WhiteTop professional, both securely shrink wrapped and very nice and tightly packed into a proper spindle with a spacer on top of the media ensuring as little damage as possible could be caused during shipping. Although not used in this review, a printable version is also available if desired. All should be of equal quality and use the same grade of the MCC dye from Mitsibushi Chemicals Corp. We had no preference in this review as to which range of media we took our samples from.

The recording surface is a light purple and carries the Media ID of MCC-004-00 according to VSO Inspector and should be capable of speeds of upto 16x on our 16x capable review devices just like the Verbatim version was.
