Fujifilm 16x DVD+R media review

Introduction

Welcome to my 45th DVD media review. Over the past couple of years I have had the pelasure of reviewing many many different brands of recordable media from 4x DVD-R single layer right through to 8x DVD+R Double Layer. Using dyes from many of the most popular manufacturers I thought I had reviewed pretty much everything until this latest offering flew onto the review desk. Well I was wrong!, branded by Fujifilm and using a dye manufactured by Prodisc Technology of Taiwan, my latest review is of the Fujifilm 16x DVD+R media.

"At every level, the world of computing is demanding ever more varied and sophisticated types of data storage and back-up systems. Fujifilm meets that need with a complete range of the world’s most advanced storage solutions – for today and for the future. Designed for personal or professional use, the Fujifilm DVD+R disc can record up to 4.7 GB or 120 minutes (standard mode) of video, high-resolution photo images and large data files."

Please Note: Packaging can differ dependant on country sold.

The Fujifilm 16x DVD+R media arrived in 1 spindle of 25. This is fast becoming the most popular and price competitive way of selling DVD recordable media to the end user. It's an easy and convenient way to store quantities of discs in a very small place whilst it can also provide at least some good protection against the wear and tear of transport. On the outside of the spindle there is all the information you require about the media such as the contact details, brand name, recording speed, product reference and contact details. It tells us that this media was manufactured in Taiwan by Prodisc Technology although I will be quick to point out that there is no reference to who actually makes this media on the packaging. Fujifilm can use multiple manufacturers to produce their media such as production needs demand.

For the real media quality enthusiast, the batch number codes on the inner circle of the media are clearly marked PR14-0815-5194. This media ia also avaible in Jewel case 10 pack versions for the user that wants this type of storage solution but this will add some extra cost to the price of this media.
