BenQ 8x DVD-R media review

Recording

CDR-Zone.COM recording tests where used to test the 8x DVD-R Media at the maximum recording speeds available with a selection of 5 pieces of the BenQ media taken from different sections of the spindle we received for reviewing on both the PIONEER DVR 108 and NEC3500AG.

" For anyone wondering why we have not included any 8x recording speed results in this review, it is our feeling that if this media is rated at 16x in both these drives by default and passes all our tests, then there is no reason why recording this media at 8x should show any ill efects either."

A total of 10 pieces of this media where recorded for this review and please note we are not just showing the best results. All results shown are the average out of the 5 tested media for each drive.

CD Speeds Create CD test recording the BenQ 8x DVD-R media with the NEC 3500AG at an over speed of 16x, taking a total of 6 minutes 11 seconds to record the maximum possible to this media.Using the P-CAV writing mode, the start speed was 6.67x averaging 11.29x and reaching a maximum recording speed of 15.48x. Now consider the fact that the average recording speed for this media is actually nearly 50% higher than its highest rated speed.

Later on in this review we will show the CD Speed Disc Quality scans on this media recorded at 16x on the NEC 3500AG.
