The above results show that the Pioneer DVR 108 can reach very impressive transfer speeds for DVD+/-R single layer recordable media, although the pressed DVD did not seem to transfer as fast. High transfer rates for both pressed and recordable CDR media with the v1.10 firmware were also achieved making this a good all round device for reading various types of media. The DVD+R Dual Layer recordable media also achieved high transfer speeds making this drive a very good device for transfer of data from DVD+R D/L media.
To check how fast DVD ripping software could extract the files to hard disk at, we 'ripped' the same DVD media to our hard drive with DVD Decrypter in ISO mode.

The findings from DVD Decrypter are almost identical to the tests done with CD Speed and can only confirm the findings. Below are some screenshots from CD Speed showing the reading graphs for a selection of the media used for these transfer tests. Also included are some K-Probe test screenshots showing scans of the media tested on the Pioneer DVR 108.
Pressed DVD D/L media test graph:
A perfect graph for the transfer of information from a pressed DVD, with a slight 'dip' where the layer transition takes effect. Maximum transfer speed achieved was quite disappointing at only 5.30x due to the Pioneer rip lock implementation but speeds for all over media where extremely good. Their are firmware's out that will remove this feature but as always, this is not official and will void the warranty on your drive.

DVD+R D/L media test graph:
A smooth transfer curve can noticed all the way until the end of the test where a maximum speed of 7.50x is achieved with our Traxdata DVD+R D/L media at an average of 5.63x.

An impressive K-probe scan for the verbatim CDR Media with almost non existent errors reported. According to this test, Verbatim CDR will work very well with the Pioneer DVR 108.

According to al the tests we carried out, the DVR 108 should have no problems recording to various DVD+/-R and DVD+R D/L and CDR media manufactured by Traxdata and Verbatim.
