Packaging and presentation
This Pioneer DVR 108 came as a bare bone OEM unit, supplied with no cables or screws as well as no software for recording.

The unit itself is a full size drive, being 198 mm deep and weighing 1 kg making it ideal for normal PCs, fitting perfectly into our review case. Should the drive for any reason refuse to eject any media it also has an emergency release mechanism. On the back of the drive there are 2 outputs one for Digital and one for analogue, a jumper setting for Master/Slave or cable select, a standard 40 pin IDE cable input and a 4 pin Molex power supply input.

This drive was manufactured in July of 2004, with firmware v1.06 and gives the serial number should you need to quote it if ever the drives needs to be sent back under warranty. This firmware was then updated to v1.10 which is the newest available at the time of writing this review.
