Good news for owners of the Sony DRU-500A DVDRW drive, as a new firmware has been released today with reading improvements, and more media added to its compatibility list.

Software for DRU-500CA/500AX and DRX-500UL/500ULX, with the following firmware versions installed : 1.0c, 1.0d, 1.0e, 1.0f, 1.0g, 2.0c and 2.0e

When upgrading from firmware version 1.0f, 1.0g, the 2.0c and the 2.0e (with the corresponding models) the following features are improved:
Support of more media
Improvement of reading efficiency
Quiet operation whith media with eccentricity problems
Improved playback compatibility of produced Audio CD

When upgrading from firmware version firmware version 1.0c, from the 1.0d and the 1.0e (with the corresponding models) the following features are improved:

Support of 4x DVD+R writing
4x CLV DVD-R and DVD+R media reading
Adjustment of writing quality according to the inserted media Improvement of reading efficiency
Quiet operation whith media with eccentricity problems
Improved playback compatibility of produced Audio CD
