Earlier this week we informed our readers that we where testing the pre-release samples of the Traxdata 4x DVD-R Dual Layer media. Today the results have been posted in our Media Forum.
There is still alot of work to do with the writer support for this media. Only the Plextor PX-716 could achieve the medias rated speed, with the Pioneer DVR 109XL only managing 2x and the BenQ DW 1640 unable to start its recording. We never expected it to have very low PIF errors as Ritek have told us that this will be a cheaper D/L media compared to the Verbatim 4x DVD-R Dual Layer version we have reviewed but the recording pits where very good with jitter and beta also nicely within specifications. that said none of the recorded discs failed to transfer on the BenQ DW 1640 at 12x.
Stay tuned for the full indepth review as soon as we have the full production is version available for testing.
