Yet another DVD first from TDK: today it launches the first glossy, ultra-high resolution photo printable DVDs. Using TDK’s Photo Quality Printable DVDs, users can now customise their DVD collection with true-to-life, professional-looking photography and images.

TDK’s Photo Quality Printable DVDs are ideal for gifts, business presentations, or a novel archiving system for movies, music, images and data. For example, last year’s holiday video can be easily identified with a true-to-life, glossy picture of the family on the beach or a designer can produce DVD demos of his work with a piece of customised artwork on the surface of the DVD.

Printing on the disc is easy – just place it in a disc-printable printer, select your image, press the print button and in just a couple of minutes you’ll have a fully customised DVD that looks like a professionally manufactured disc. Designed for ease of use, TDK’s Photo Quality Printable DVDs are compatible with all leading brands of disc-printable inkjet printers.

TDK’s Photo Quality Printable discs are superior to any other inkjet printable disc on the market, thanks to a unique coating developed by TDK. The discs have a highly porous coating for high-resolution printing, which shows-off the brightest colours and finest detail. The DVDs also have an extra large printing area – the inner diameter is only 23mm so vital parts of the picture are not lost.

The added benefit of printing directly onto the disc goes beyond the irritation of manually lining up and sticking on messy-looking labels that could peel and cause internal damage to the DVD player. TDK’s Photo Quality DVDs have an inkjet printable coating on the label side of the disc so the image becomes part of the DVD and so risk to the drive is minimal.

Hartmut Kulessa said: “TDK has a long history of listening to our customers, investing in research and development to produce recording media of quality that people really need. We were the first to develop ScratchProof DVDs, as well as Anti UV coating. TDK’s Photo Quality Printable DVDs add to that tradition by bringing our customers – both consumers and businesses – a professional DVD, which they can customise for a truly personal touch. Its bound to make an impression, however it is used.”

TDK’s Photo Quality Printable DVDs are available now, in both +/-R formats in standard jewel case
