CDR-Info have released information concerning the availibility of a new firmware for the Sony DRU-530A and DRX-530UL DVD+/-RW drives.The firmware increases the recording speed from the current 4X, upto 8X.
"Sony released a new firmware update for the DRU-530A and DRX-530UL DVD burners. Users are able to install the firmware in order to record DVD-R at 8x. The drive was initially released with 4x burning support for DVD-R. The new firmware is available here. In related news, Optorite plans to release a coresponding firmware update for the DD0401 in the next 2 weeks."
