Starting next month, Sony will offer a DVD writer, the "Sony DRU-500A" that can write all four formats (DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW). It will be priced at about $350 for the internal version and about $430 for an external version with an iLink and a USB 2.0 interface.
