More news on the availability of next generation DVD formats if news from the Inquirer is correct.

The company representatives didn't have a clue about the pricing of the media as they claim this is still one of the great unknowns.
HD DVD recordable drives are limited to 15GB per disc, while Blu-ray discs branded as BD-R have a larger 25GB capacity. Blu-ray discs should be recordable at two speeds, so may be able to be written to more quickly.
The format battle rages yet."
So by as early as mid way through this year we can all be discussing which is better. I'm sure it will be a long while before a clear winner is decided.
