CDFreaks have released a review of the Liteon LDW-411s DVDR+/- writer.
"OC-Freak has finished the much anticipated review of the Lite-On LDW-411S dual format DVD recorder. This drive writes both DVD+R and DVD-R discs at 4x, does DVD+RW at 4x and DVD-RW at 2x. As Lite-On CD-RW drives are/were very popular the expectations of this drive were very high. Unfortunately our first tests were very disappointing but then Lite-On released a new firmware, fixing all of the problems we had.
Part of conclusion:
The out-of-the-box performance of this drive was not very good as there were a few serious DVD-R/RW writing issues present. But thankfully Lite-On released firmware FS0F that cured these problems and made the drive become a strong competitor to most other DVD-Writers. So if you have not already upgraded the firmware to version FS0F (or newer) we suggest that you do that to get the best experience with the drive.
But was the upgrade enough to make this a killer drive, is it worth your money? You can find out by reading our Lite-On LDW-411S DVD±RW review. Discuss this drive in our Lite-On Forum."
You can read what CD Freaks thought about this drive in the full review Here. The lite-on, although not as fast as the ever increasing release of 8X DVDRW+/- drives, it does seem to offer the ususal 'very good value for money' that we have to come to expect from Lite-On drives.
