"The super multi DVD recorder, model RCS 7700, supports all storage standards for DVD±R/DVD±RW and DVD-RAM, and eliminates limitations in recording formats. The model enables recording on DVD+R double-layer discs, allowing recording eleven hours of video data - this is approximately twice the capacity of existing products. It can also perform time shift functions designed to record and simultaneously play previously recorded video.
'This product shows off our expertise in DVD recording technologies and will help us aggressively penetrate the global electronics market,' said C H Lee, president, LG Electronics Gulf FZE. 'By launching the world's first multi format DVD re-writer, we have cemented our position in the optical storage device segment. With price reductions, greater availability and affordability of recording media, DVD writers are set to take over from CD writers.'
The RCS-7700 recorder enables copying from DVD to VCR or vice versa, and its 8-in-2 multi memory-card slots allow a direct link to eight memory cards such as SMC / CF / MD / MMC / SD / MS / MS Pro / xD to play stored photos (JPEG), music (MP3 / WMA), DivX and other files. It also has an IEEE1394 input, to allow easy linkages to digital camcorders to copy and edit in DVD and VCR.
The world's first DVD recorder with digital video recorder (DVR), the LG LRM-519, will also be on display during Gitex. This model raises the bar in the DVD recorder market and is the world's first combination DVD recorder. The 160-gigabyte hard-disc-drive (HDD) convergence product with an electronic programme guide (EPG) and PC connectivity uses technology from Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft chairman and chief software architect Bill Gates unveiled the product during his keynote address on the eve of the International Consumer Show 2005 in Las Vegas, USA."
