Today CDR-Zone brings you a review of the new K-MP3 version 5.

About the Software:

K-MP3 is a freeware Audio File Toolkit which enables the user to automatically tag and rename various audio file formats in a very simple and easy to use interface. This software also allows the user to burn the files via
CopyToDVD

The ultimate audio files toolkit is back again.:

Key Features:

K-MP3v5 features many many many many many many many new features such as:
Usage:

Here is a brief overview of the main functions of K-MP3:

Album - Tag And Rename:

This is where the user can tag and rename files as well as create a playlist for them. If a track is missing from an album, the user can also add fake tracks, and this will enable the tagging to complete even if you dont have the complaete album. I found this most useful when I make MP3 from an audio CD which has a "data" track on it. My Audio compressor software did not copy the "data track", and so it was missing and must be replaced by a "fake" track.

Single File Track Editor:

This is pretty self explanatory, and allows the user to Add/Remove Tags from various, supported compresed audio files.

CD Burner:

Here the user can sort and put all of their Tagged/Renamed files onto either a CD or DVD via CopyToDVD. K-MP3v5 takes advantage of the very good free plugin by VSO Software which ensures a trouble free burning experience.

Mass files Processor:

Here you can find some really handy Mass file tools such as Name cleaner,Tag remover, CDBurner, and Organiser. They are all very self explanatory and easy to use.

Playlists:

Now you have tagged/ renamed, cleaned/organised or found and removed all of your dulpicates, you can now put all of them into playlists for easy playing. Here in this section of KMP3, you can create and check your playlists very simply, and KK have very nicely added a file lister to this section too. ( Handy if you have alot of compressed files in one folder and need to list them quickly )

These next features are avaiable for upgrading to the expert version of K-MP3:
  • Duplicates finder : Finds duplicates
  • Incomplette tags finder : looks for files with incomplete tags (ie : missing artist name)
  • Quality analasys : help you to track poor quality audio files on your hard drives
  • Magic folder : create a virtual structure in your audio library
Settings:

A big update over v4 of K-MP3 that v5 has, is the settings screen. Here you have lots of control over the way your files will be tagged, The format of playlists created, and the way how you would like the Organiser to move your files, as well as giving the user a choice of freedb servers.

Conclusion:

All the tools required to Tag/rename, clean, re-order your music collection, create and check your playlists, constantly updated, and more formats promised soon are plenty of good reasons to give the free version of K-MP3 version 5 a test run. Also free CD and DVD burning via
CopyToDVD is very welcomed, as many similar programes do not offer this feature. If more advanced options are needed, then you can easily upgrade your K-Mp3 to the expert version which allows for such functions as Duplicate finder, Quality analyser and the very clever Magic Folder option. I feel that a wizard style interface would truly enhance this software into something that would be very helpful to anyone needing to perform the operations that K-MP3 offers, and if the promises of more format support are implemented, it can only make it better. KC software have tried very hard to tailor a version that is both suitable for both the new and the more advanced user.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:
  • Special CDR-Zone offer of 25% off until April 13th
  • Many user friendly fuctions even in free mode
  • Can be launched from within CopyToDVD 3
  • Expert mode is great value for money with 14 seperate functions in expert mode
  • Great customer support
  • Support many of the most common audio formats
  • Excellent customer support via email
Cons:
  • Interface could be smaller
  • A wizard style interface for individual sections would be nice
Pricing and Availability

K-MP3 Expert is priced at 14.99 euros and is available now.
