So is HD DVD technology going to make a difference in your home for the average user. Thats what is discussed in this article we found on The Willits News site.

"You've just paid for, or almost paid for, your state-of-the-art home theater system. And now theyre telling you there are two new entertainment technologies and standards coming onto the market in one year that might make your DVD player obsolete.

One of the new players is expected to cost about $1,000.

So are these new DVD players really something you should be interested in? The answer probably is yes, if youre into high-definition TV and the greater picture quality it offers.

The next-generation technology formats are being developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition content, similar to what you get with HD-TV, and eventually for PC data storage.

The two consortiums of manucturers behind Blu-ray and HD DVD are setting their sights on movie storage because, besides offering high-definition, they both offer significantly expanded content storage. The home entertainment industry is keenly keeping score of the way the major studios are stacking up behind each of them."

The article goes very indepth and you can read the full article over here
