Some interesting news from the Socaltech website about a new HD DVD audio format from one of the leaders in their field - DTS. We will all be familiar with DTA audio tracks on modern DVD releases but now it seems they are also ready to come to the HD DVD party.
"Agoura Hills-based DTS is launching its new HD DVD audio format, DTS-HD Master Audio at CES tomorrow. The company said that its format supports high definition video and 7 channels of high definition surround sound audio, and is a key part of next generation HD DVD and Blue-ray format. The company said that it will hold a launch event tomorrow with ICE-T and drummer Omar Hakim to demonstrate and launch the format. DTS is a provider of sound and digital systems targeted at the home and theater markets. "
So now instead of 5.1 DTA audio we can expect 7 channels of high definition surround sound audio. We can expect similar for the Blu Ray format soon.
