CDRLabs have released a review of Plextors PX-504A DVD+R Drive. It tests all the features in detail and with lots of different type of software and types of media at different speeds.

Model: PlexWriter PX-504A DVD+R/RW
Manufacturer: Plextor
Provided By: Plextor America

For more than a decade, Plextor has been one of the most trusted names in the optical storage industry. Considered by many to be the professional's choice, their CD-RW and CD-ROM drives are known around the world for their performance, quality and features. Over the years they've repeatedly raised the bar for the entire industry by being one of the first companies to bring new and innovative technologies to market.

With the popularity of DVD writers at an all time high, it shouldn't be surprising that Plextor has jumped into this market with both feet. Announced this January, the PX-504A has been one of the most highly anticipated products of the year. Banking on the popularity of the DVD+R/+RW format, the PX-504A is one of the first drives to support 4x DVD+R and 2.4x DVD+RW writing speeds. Of course Plextor hasn't stopped there. They've also included support for their PoweRec technology, buffer underrun protection and lossless linking technology.

With features and specs like this, the PX-504A sounds like it's worthy of the Plextor name. If you're like us though, you'll want to know what is fact and what is only marketing hype. In this review we'll take a look at some of the features Plextor has incorporated into their new writer and then see how it performs. Does the PX-504A deliver the level of performance we've come to expect from Plextor's CD writers? Is it the best DVD+R/RW drive currently available? Keep reading to find out.
