"Mississauga, ON, February 6, 2006: Canon Canada Inc. has announced its new DC40 DVD camcorder, featuring a slim design, 10x optical zoom lens, and a 4.3 megapixel CCD image sensor that produces widescreen video, and doubles as a digital camera.
“For people who capture images of family functions for posterity, or who wish to record vivid vacation images that they can playback on their widescreen TVs, Canon's feature-filled DC40 camcorder rises to the occasion, as Canon’s camcorders are The Official Camcorder of Life,” commented Ian Macfarlane, Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon Canada, Inc. “The DC40 DVD model is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, easy to use, and delivers high quality performance to customers that also value convenience.”
The 4.3MP image sensor is combined with an RGB primary colour filter; and the camcorder also includes Canon’s exclusive DIGIC DV image processor. Recording directly to DVD, it accepts three-inch DVD-R/-RW discs, which can store up to 60 minutes of video (120 minutes on a double sided disc) and are compatible with most home DVD players. Consumers can easily locate scenes without having to rewind or fast forward, and create playlists of favourite scenes right in the camcorder.
The DC40 model includes Canon’s Widescreen HR (High Resolution) 16:9 recording, which allow users to enjoy a full-screen image on their widescreen TV; and includes a 2.7’’ widescreen display panel. When using the supplied My DVD for Canon video editing software, users can edit video and photos on a PC; or press one button to make DVD copies for sharing. "
