Over at the BitBurners forum some news about a project just about to go alpha. In an attempt to gather some information on various recordable media they have produced the MediaBase. It's early days so expect the MediaBase to be quite small to begin with, although I'm sure in time it can become a very good resource in attaining some basic idea of various media and their potential errors.
"The MediaBase is a database which contains and collects DVD recordable media quality information. In the first stage the support is limited to DVDs, but in the future as suitable tools are developed, we may add support the next generation formats (Blu-ray, HD-DVD) as well. Including the CD-R is an option as well, but at the moment it is only about DVDs.
The principle of the MediaBase is simple: Users can submit their Nero CD-DVD Speed quality scanning data, provide their subjective rating for the media (0-5 stars) and write a brief textual comment/review. As more data is collected, the database will start to have statistical validity and we will be able to produce very interesting quality statistics and information about the DVd recordable media on the market."
So, if like us here at the Zone you want to either help input data or simply just check out some of the results in a guide to purchasing some good media, go visit the BitBurners support thread Here where all will be made clear.
