IT News online bring us news about a new external DVD Rewriter from SUS capable of 16x single layer and 8x Double layer recording. It is also a super multi format writer capable of 5x DVD-RAM recording.
"ASUSTeK Computer Inc. has introduced the DRW-1608P2S-D external X Multi DVD-rewriter, which supports USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 standards for easy connection and high-speed data transfers. It provides data storage at 16X DVD-R and 16X DVD+R as well as 8X DVD+R (double Layer) and incorporates various technologies to offer high-quality recording and reliable operation.
Support for USB 2.0 makes the DRW-1608P2S-D ideal for connecting to notebooks, while the IEEE 1394 interface enables fast data transfer for digital video content.
The X Multi DRW-1608P2-D is capable of reading data from and writing data on both DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW formats. With the dual compatibility feature, the DRW-1608P2S-D creates DVDs that can be played or read by most DVD-ROM drives and DVD players. The burner supports the latest double layer technology, which doubles DVD+R media from 4.7 GB to 8.5 GB or four hours of DVD quality video without flipping over the disc.
The ASUS X Multi DRW-1608P2S-D features several technologies such as FlextraLink that prevents buffer underrun problems and eliminates the creation of unusable discs. FlextraSpeed enhances accuracy and reliability when writing and rewriting across a broad range of certified media. Throughout the recording process, FlextraLink keeps track of the data buffer status, whereas FlextraSpeed continuously monitors the recording media and sets the most effective writing speed to ensure the best recording quality. The optimal operation speed also effectively lowers noise, prolongs motor life and saves CPU resource.
The DRW-1608P2S-D also features the ASUS DDSS II (Double Dynamic Suspension System II) technology, which minimizes the vibration caused by the spindle motors and resonance between components and PC cases. It stabilizes the pick-up head, both horizontally and vertically, achieving more precise tracking while reducing vibration and noise caused by high-revolution motors. Airflow Field Modification (AFFM) feature reduces noise and vibration when using a high-speed drive. AFFM is designed to change the uneven airflow field inside the drive as even pressure distribution leads to quieter and more stable operation.
LCT (Liquid Crystal Tilt) technology provides enhanced pick-up head line up accuracy during recording and playback on disks with the uneven curvature and surfaces of discs. All ASUS technologies occupy minimal system resources, allowing the PC to remain fully operational and available for other applications even during the recording process.
