News from HP about their decision to use CMC Magnetic Corpotation dyes on all their range of CD\DVD media in Europe, The Middle East and Africa.
Over the past few months the HP range of 8x DVD+/-R media has been using these dyes but the decision to use this dye for all their media means that from now on our users are guranteed to know what they are buying everytime they decide to purchase a recordable media wiht the HP branding. With all the chopping and changing of dyes from companies that rebrand media ( Philips spring to mind - you never sure exactly what you are getting dye wise even though the brand name never changes ), we feel this is a good positive decision from HP to show that they at least trust one manufacturer, in their opinion to consistently deliver a good quality disc.
"Nettetal (pts/13.06.2005/10:30) - Hewlett-Packard Company has entered into an agreement with CMC Magnetics Corporation, a leading manufacturer of high-quality CD and DVD optical discs, to market and distribute HP-branded DVD and CD optical disc products in EMEA (Europe, The Middle East, and Africa).
With this agreement HP is able to provide a larger portfolio of products to complement its CD and DVD drive offerings and to meet customer demand for high-quality, attractively priced CD and DVD storage media. Consumers can rely on CMC to provide a full range of HP-branded writable and rewritable storage media for both CD and DVD storage devices as well as for the newly introduced LightScribe technology.
Through this arrangement, CMC Magnetics has become an authorized agent to ship DVD and CD disc products in EMEA under the HP brand. CMC Magnetics will have the responsibility for all aspects of bringing CD & DVD media products to the consumer and commercial marketplace. CMC will manufacture, qualify, market, support and distribute HP-branded CD and DVD products under HP's strict quality and branding standards.
HP will participate in customer meetings and will test and qualify all optical disc product lines to ensure high-quality products, and HP will continue to invest in research and development and provide intellectual property for future products.
CMC will use its own established channel to distribute HP-branded CD and DVD disc products in EMEA. The first products through the agreement with CMC Magnetics has been already launched throughout Europe in spring 2005.
