Introduction

We have recieved a few requests from new forum members about there not being many places on the internet to show users around this software. So here at CDR-Zone we've done just that and put together a simple explanation of the most commonly used features of DVD Decrypter.

For the past few years DVD Decrypter's author Lightning UK has been at the forefront of the DVD Backup scene. His software offers, in our opinion, the best chance of getting a fully working backup of your original DVD backup for use with other software afterwards.

"DVD Decrypter is a highly versatile VOB-ripping utility that is useful when backing up DVD's. The software takes advantage of both the DeCSS Plus and VobDec algorithms for looking up and decrypting the CSS encryption. DVD Decrypter is also multi-angle aware with the option to keep one angle."

It has been around for quite a few years and has stood the test of time and is the most used ripper. It is regularly updated to include new features and is one of the simplest tools to use when ripping/burning a DVD. The default settings are highly recommended for the majority of DVD's but here is a simple explaination of some of the settings and what they do:

"It is also capable of removing the Macrovision scrambling key, as well as the region code during the ripping process. "
