DVDReMake options

The idea of this guide is to walk you through the options available in both versions of DVDReMake. Although the main aim of DvdReMake is to make it as easy as possible to edit your DVD project before burning or transcoding, we feel it is always useful to have a handy reference as to what everythig actually does.

Hi Hi

Click parts of the image to get more information

Target DVD Size (Back To Top)

This is what DRM will compare the current project size against. If it is larger than the value you specify then the DVD size will be shown in red, like below which had a target of 1mb. Note the Size shown in DRM also includes any Audio and Subtitles

Test DVD Export (Back To Top)

This has 2 parts, one for the menus and one for the PGC's. This will trim each Cell within the Menu or PGC to whatever time you set. That means you can Test Export the DVD a lot quicker than exporting the whole DVD to test playback. You obviously cannot cut a menu still but you can cut the longer motion menu's. A good setting is around 5 seconds as that will give you and the player plenty of time to see the menu and check it. The other time setting for the PGC will cut the video in the Titles in same way as a menu. A good setting is around 3 seconds so you can see most things playing in the DVD. So if you have a movie with one long motion menu and 1 Title with 20 chapters in 20 cells. The menu will be 5 seconds long before repeating and each cell (Chapter) in the Title will be 3 seconds long. This is an excellent for testing everything is OK before committing to the Full Export

Auto Bypass (Back To Top)

When this is selected then DRM copies all the Post Commands to the Pre Commands. Normally the player will read the Pre Commands, play the Video, read the Cell Commands and then finally the Post Commands. This means there is a slight pause when every removed Cell is played and on some standalones this can take a few seconds. By selecting AutoBypass then all the Post Commands are executed before the Video in the Cell is played as they are now Pre Commands. This means the Video is skipped and doesn't slow the player down. Be aware that it does not copy any Cell Commands and therefore may cause playback issues with some DVD's that have Cell Commands. These Commands will not be getting executed and it will affect the Register settings. It's your choice to use this feature but if your player is fast enough then you probably won't need it anyway

Button Over Video (BOV) (Back To Top)

Sometimes Buttons can be elsewhere in the DVD and not just in the Menu's. This setting will scan the VOB's when importing a DVD into DRM. A setting of 0.5 seconds will catch just about every BOV but will also take the longest to import the DVD. It will also find buttons within a Motion Menu if they are not shown straight away, so it's wise to have this setting turned on at all times. If you can bear the wait when importing the DVD then 0.5 is the best to use to catch just about everything

Preview Animation (Back To Top)

This will automatically update the preview boxes showing the Video. It is handy when all you can see are black boxes along the top when you select a Menu or Program within a VTS. It doesn't work if you select an individual PGC. If it is set to 3 then every 3 seconds DRM will update the Cells shown a little more along the timeline (as if you were using the slider). It does not jump through the Cell by however many seconds it it set to. It may also has an effect on your Processor if it is updating every few seconds.
