Saw IV rip'd & burned movie only, doesn't start.
Using RipIt4me on that copy yielded a watchable copy, except i had a little freezing in the first few seconds, and had to hit FF; actual start of the movie onward works fine
- dvd came from the top of new batch of discs, might explain the freezing?
duh me! if I'd of noticed and removed the bogus < > parameters in ripit4me path (which i used first, allbeit non-sober)...
Question tho - the sticky announcement saying V3.5 has been released,
Why does it not reflect the V.x of the current version?
Is this for to deter leechers or bots |

I used release 124 on this movie in full disc mode and got a good rip/burn and it even verified ok. But when I went to play it the first time it froze, the second time I went to play it the DVD player gave me a "Disc cannot be played, insert valid format disc" message I never got before (huh?) And then the third time it loaded and played in it's entirety perfectly. I ejected and reloaded two more times and it loaded ok. Then third eject/reload it froze again (this time it wouldn't even eject from the player. Had to turn off and back on again to get it out) Then the fourth and fifth time it loaded and played perfectly. And then got stuck again the sixth time. (You can see where I'm going with this. The disc is flaky.)
Playing it right in the computer, VLC media player flaked out a couple of times and froze when I tried to skip scene to scene but looked like it would play the movie ok as long as you didn't touch anything. Ironically, plain old Windows Media Player handled it flawlessly and let me navigate and hop around as much as I wanted.
It looks like I got something "right on the borderline" of a good rip/burn. (works, but with issues.)
dinkie will be the first one to tell you that, after the Saw 3 train wreck last year, If I get a workable disc on the first try that I just have to fiddle-fart around with a little to get to work, I'm not about to complain. The Saw 3 fiasco is not far enough in the past for me to forget The thread is probably still here back a ways if anyone wants to relive the horror |
