Not infrequently I find that after I remake a DVD, no subtitle selection exists (operation not possible appears on screen ) when you press the subtitle button on the standalone DVD player remote even though several subtitles are muxed into the stream and are clearly visible in the subtitle stream when opened in DVD remake pro. The subtitles would have been be accessible had I left the subtitle selection menu operational.

I often hide the menu and audio selection menus expecting that I can access then via the remote. Is there procedure to follow to guarantee this will work every time while I am editing in DVDRM pro?

Is there a way to fix dvd's that can't access this menu after they are edited and shrunk?

I think you can fix this by right clicking the pgc in the tree view, and then you have two choices. Enable all operations, or set prohibited operations. Enable all will work, but it will also enable all other things and I dont' know if you want that.
If you go into the set prohibited operations you can remove the checkmark from whichever options you want to work, while still leaving other ones prohibited.

First, let me thank you for your suggestion. I appreciate the help.

Unfortunately this didn't work as it was the first thing I tried. The subtitles are available in the original DVD so I guess I need to compare the two to see which phase of the editing removed it. This may be difficult as the subtitles sets are accessible from any of the software players but not the standalone.

Did you disable one or more of the subtitles in the middle of the subtitle selection? While you are able to select the subtitle stream in the software player via mouse, you may not be able to do the same in the standalones, for some standalones that is, because they do not know how to skip over the "gap" or "hole" of the available subtitle streams via subtitle button on the remote. The only way to go through the gap is via subtitle menu.

Since you blank the subtitle menu, you're experiencing this problem. So just shrink the menu and select the subtitle through it. It doesn't take much space.

If you don't like the gap and want to blank the subtitle menu, the only way is remap the remaining tracks to fill in the gap. This is advanced editing. There are discussions about this in this forum and lots more in doom9 ifoedit forum.

That's along the lines I was thinking. Originally it had four sub tracks , one which is always on to translate the few portions that are spoken in a foreign language. The other three, are eng, fr and sp captions which give a full subtitling of the movie. The french and spanish which I removed are between the two english tracks.

So I decided to simply keep the sub menu but what seems unusual is that after the first time you make a selection in the subtitle menu, the subtitle menu on the remote will work for the duration of the movie.

And thanks for the suggestions using ifoedit, I will put some time in and learn how to remap just for my own knowlege.
