I got stuck with one of these, and until yesterday, I never had an issue. I'm on a WinXP machine, using Nero7, and had to run out to get more DVDs. I got a spindle of Maxell 16x DVD-R, and started cranking out DVDs for a client. Out of 10, there were 4 failed, the rest burned ok. Then all of a sudden, I get the error that the disk is unwriteable, I need to use DVD+R.

After a futile search and phone call to Sony, I spent a few hours, and found the BYS3 update. Using the LtnFW, I updated the firmware, several times, rebooted, and still it shows BYS1 in Nero.

What is the deal here?

C'mon... I know some of y'all have this burner. Have you gotten it up to date and issue free yet?
