Hello! I was reading about dvdremake and I think it may halp me to do some modifications to a DVD. I'd like to clarify this before buying the tool. what I have: original DVD: DVD5, english audio, without subtitles, nice menu and extras backup DVD: DVDR, reauthored with ifo edit, with english audio, portuguese audio, english subtitle, portuguese subtitle, selectable using the remote, WITHOUT menu and extras what I want: a backup DVD with the menu and extras. the audio and subtitles DON'T need to be selectable by menu. selecting by remote is pretty ok. can I do this with dvdremake? if not, there is some tool to do this? TIA

thanks for the link. messing with a DVD structure is complicated, I used your sugestion of ifoupdate and worked fine. I am having some problems with the chapters, but it is due that the multiplexed movie is 10 min shorter than the original. Don't ask me why... I'll finish the captions then I'll make some hand made adjustments. thanks again!

Make sure you didn't mix pal and NTSC, that will effect playback speed, and therefore the lenght of the movie.

I'm not mixing ntsc and pal... my dvd is ntsc. the problem seems to be with the authoring tool o ifoedit. it seems that there is a bug when the sorce video is NTSC. I'm looking for some means to modify the chapters in the IFO files. I did some changes with ifoedit but they didn't worked... I must be missing some detail

What I meant was, that if your original movie is NTSC, and your authoring tool in which you made the subbed version is by accident set to PAL, you'll get wacky playback speeds. It will play the generated 25 FPS pal footage at 30 FPS, hence your playback time will be shorter.

I'm using the AUTHOR option in IFOedit to remux the VOB with the new audio and subtitles. there is a funny bug with IFOedit when the source .m2v is NTSC, that says that the file is shorter than it reali is (around 17%, i.e, as if the file was PAM 25fps instead of NTSC 30fps) IFOedit doesn't have an NTSC/PAL option, is hardcoded. I assume that a) the author considered only PAL movies b) the tool should auto-detect 30 or 25 FPS and generate accordingly, but that operation is faulty the effects: - the movie plays the correct duration, powerdvd's time indicator stops at 1:17:34, but the movie plays more 17 minutes. - subtitles and audio are syncronized with the movie, so I assume that during the multiplex fase IFOedit correctly identifies the movie as 30fps and puts subtitles and audio in the right places - the chapters are extracted from the original DVD as a CELTIMES.TXT file, but the chapters are in the worng place, when playing the movie. it seems that is during the chapters creation proccess that the bug shows itīs ugly face. the chapter's timing error isn't constant all over the file, so I can't just multiply the values from CELLTIMES.TXT by 0.8333 to get the correct values, it is a trial and error process. I should use Rejig instead of IFOedit, but I could only find the 0.5e version, that crashes in my computer or generates a bad VOB, so I think that I must wait for a newer version of IFOedit. Do you know if there is some way to change the VOB navigation without remultiplexing it again? Something like the GET VTS SECTORS button...
