Can't burn CD-R but will burn CD-RW

Help me please!!!

My recorder will record data & music to CDRWs but won't burn to CD-Rs. I've noticed that when I burn to CD-Rs the media is being burned on but it is unusable, the file type it burns is RAW. However when I burn to CD-RWs it burns a CDFS file which are usable.

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this and how I can resolve it?
