I have been having a problem with the new version of BW. It will not write to my cheap memorex cdr. It simply states that the media cannot be used. Have a nice weekend,

When ever I use this software it will show 1% read for around 5 minutes. Then it says my hardware has changed and my cd-rom gets removed from device manager and will no longer work. I can't even open the cd-rom drive. I have to shut the computer off and manualy get the cd out. This program works fine on my other computer and I am not doing anything differently. I have upgraded my firmware to the latest verison for my cd-rom and cdr. I have an lg GCR-8523B cd-rom and a lg GCC-4520B CD-RW DVD ROM. Can I do anything else to get this program working or is it never going to work with my cdrom? Thanks

make sure your drives are using DMA, sounds like they are switching to PIO when you start to burn. Install your latest chipset drivers.

I'm not sure what you mean by dma or pio. Chipset drivers? Are you refering to the mother board. If you could give me the steps on how to do this I would really appreciate it. Also, the problem occurs both during the read phase and the write phase to both my cd-roms. I figured out how to set dma, I placed both options on my secondary ide channel to dma if available. Now for the chipset do you want me to flash my bios with the newest version? I have an asus P4C-800 E-Deluxe.

no, not a new bios, if you don't have that much experience with bios flashing, that is not for a beginner. but look at the asus site for chipset drivers, there will probably be the intel application excellerator and one other.

I just purchased my computer 2 weeks ago, I do not think I need to update the chipset drivers. How would I find my current version of the chipset drivers? There was no chipset drivers on asus.com, but on intel.com there was two updates: INF Update Utility RAID Software - Intel Application Accelerator RAID Edition Both of the driver updates are dated 12/03. Is there anything else I should try or do I need these drivers? Thanks

I have figured it out. It works when the game cd is placed in my second drive which is the burner. The burner reads the disc then I take out the game cd and place the blank cd in the burner. Any ideas on why it will not allow me to use the cd-rom, my first drive, to read the cd, and then use my burner, the second drive, to burn the cd? Maybe something to do with the hard drive? Thanks for any help

Its a great program 5.2.9. Just purchased it I can burn anything I tried except KOTOR 1. I use BW Tweak and settings to auto. It would be nice to be able to tweak it much more. Like nibble and all the in depth settings. Thanks.

Hi Im going to save you the pain I've suffered: Throw away(nearest trash can) your lg GCR-8523B cd-rom. No matter what setting you have in window it will always be in pio 4 mode. It can not do anything else(eg. udma 33/mb). The bios will read it as pio 4 because that is all the drive can do. Hence this cd-rom will use 40% cpu at 8x speed(because it uses pio 4). It fine if your only copying to your HD, but on-the-fly copying past 4x: coster maker. to much time with lg GCR-8523B, J
