Please try latest version 3.1.4. If just changing the background, and keeping the buttons, then it should work. Did you read this GUIDE?

This looks suspicious. I've done this many times, no problem. Again, did you try latest version? You can read HERE.

Usually menus are not affected (only movie chapters in most cases cut to 15 seconds) when exported by demo version. Just try demo version and see for yourself whether it will work.
