all the pictures as still images are 510MB in that format. After being converted to DVD format then they would probably end up a little larger than 510MB I don't know how PhotoDVD makes DVD's but 1898 photos is basically 1898 frames. Each converted image should then have a still time of 3 seconds before moving onto the next. I don't know if PhotoDVD does this but I would presume it would use still times if you say it's 8GB for 1898 photos then that's 4mb's per image it's using which is pretty large as I mentioned I don't know how PhotoDVD works |

| PhotoDVD outputs animated not still images so each picture will use 25-30 Frames per second, in this case equalling around 190000 frames (1898 images x 4 seconds (3 second display + 1 second transition) x 25) This is why the end result is over 8GB, reduce the total picture count to around 1000 and it should be fine. |

thanks for the info Portmac is it because of the transition that you use animated images throughout? @mike, you could always stick the DVD through DVDShrink as it would make good work of the repeated images and it may even be able to squeeze it down to 4.37GB with an acceptable quality for you |
