Hi all!
My problem is with ConvertXtoDVD's TV format options.
I've set the option to a 4:3 aspect and come out with a DVD that plays as a 16:9 widescreen on my TV set -- and after burning the same movie file I've had it play on my TV as 4:3 fullscreen when I've chosen the 16:9 aspect option.
And what does 'automatic' mean? How can ConvertXtoDVD know what my TV's screen dimensions are?
I'd appreciate any help with this.

CxD does not know anything about your TV.
This setting means how picture should be encoded; 16:9 format is anamorphic wide screen and 4:3 is "normal".
Best is to leave this to automatic, and set DVD player to send correct picture to TV, 16:9 to widescreen TV and Letterbox to 4:3. |

Thanks for your reply, JJ.
After experimenting a bit I've found that my DVD Player's setting of "4:3 Pan Span" shows much less black band at top and bottom of the picture than if I set it to "4:3 Letterbox". |

| Yes, it shows less black bars but it cuts off sides of picture. |

How do you put the screen format without black bars on my TV?
I tried converting it to 16:9 and 4:3, but still black bars showing.
Here you see the screen with black bars (TV set on Widescreen)
Here without them (TV set on Zoom)
Zoom prevents black bars, but subtitles are not correct! |

Hi,
the 4:3 and 16:9 setting in ConvertXtoDVD just tells it what type of TV you have.
It will NOT convert a 16:9 movie to 4:3 RATIO movie.
It just tells ConvertXtoDVD how to pad it if needed so it will look better on YOUR TV.
The ratio stays the same, even set to 4:3 you will STILL get black bars on top and bottom, the movie still has a ratio of 16:9
I know its not clear, but it's not like choosing a FULL SCREEN vs WIDE SCREEN DVD at the store. |
