| ISO Copies is a term I have just come upon. Meaning you get an exact copy of the original disk I presume. I'm not able to do this, how do I get to be able to do this, (and from where)? Cheers. |

| Well....it depends on the kind of burning program you use, many of them use beside iso, also their own standard of imageformat, like cue/bin,MDS,CCD,CDI.....most of these imageformats can store additional info, like copyprotections.......an iso is actually very limited,it can't hold any copyprotection,so making an iso is not recommended if your cd is protected...... Just make an imagefile of your cd with your favorite burning program and save the file as iso.....if this is not possible, due to your burning proggie's limitations, you can always convert the native imageformat to iso with programs like WinIso or UltraIso.....but you will loose the protection info,so the cd won't work if it's protected..... |

| Thanks Roadworker, Sorry about delay in reply, huge lump of cramming required to pass tests! So if I make an image file, Then save as an ISO file type before burning to disk. I'm using NTI Cd Maker Platinum 6, but have Fireburner ISO unplayed with as yet (so many programs, so little time). Are you familiar with either of these, or do you recommend I get hold of WinIso or UltraIso instead. Appreciate your willingness to share your hardwon knowledge, and especially your plain language. I'm studying INFO systems, but that feeds you zip about real stuff. Cheers, Legbiter |

Well...i've used NTI up to version 5,tried 6 too,but wasn't very impressed with this version.......about FireBurner:not so often updated,a bit relying on it's old reputation, like CdrWin from goldenHawk company...don't wanna sound negative, but there are much better programs than this 1 too.....even freeware! For example:Burnatonce, available @ www.burnatonce.co.uk .....few pros:ability to create iso images from data files on your harddisk and ability to create cue/bin files (most used imageformat on the whole internet!! ) from your cd's....i would recommend this 1 for creating backup images from your (unprotected)cd's,although this proggy can handle a few copyprotections too................... at the moment, for creating copyprotected images without patching, for me,the absolute king in this field,is Alcohol 120%...this proggy can create images from most copyprotected cd's,sometimes with emulation, but 95% succes when working with a supported drive...... Burnatonce uses cue/bin and Alcohol 120% uses MDS as imageformat, but as I stated in my 1st reply, better use 1 of these formats to store your backup images then a plain iso...... Especially cue/bin is recommended, because of it's well known format...... |
