Ok, I'll start with the techie bit first, here is my setup: AMD Athlon 800Mhz, 512Mb PC133, Asus A7v133 M/B, LiteOn 52x CD-Rom, LG 48x 12x 48x CDRW. Nero 5.5.something software. Win2k SP3 The problem I have is that I cannot copy 'on the fly' from drive to drive at a speed higher than 8x. I have used the cd-test features in Nero, and it only seems to extract at about 8x, so I guess this is the problem. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this to transfer data faster? Here is the HDD/Cd setup: Primary master = 9.5Gb 7200rpm HDD (Fujitsu) Primary slave = 40Gb 5400rpm HDD (IBM I think) Secondary master = LG CDRW Secondary slave = LiteOn CD-Rom I am completely open to suggestions here ?!?!?

do you have DMA enabled for al your harddrives and for both your cd rom and writer? This should speed it up. Also out of interest...if your are writing at 8x, then you really need a read rate of about 48x to keep it smooth, so 8x on the fly is actually not bad!
