One of the listed abilities on the DVDRemake Pro overview page is the ability to add chapter stops. I've done a search of the forum but can't find anything on it. Is there a guide or post that describes how to do this? Thanks.

Hi leebo, Welcome to the forum. Smile You can cut cells thus adding a "chapter stop". What is more interesting to me (and maybe to you as well) is adding a new chapter start point. It is coming soon to DVDReMake.

OK, I'm stupid. Whats the difference? Changing where an already created chapter starts?

Chapters (PTTs) are usually consist of one program containing one cell, but sometimes more than one. Right now with DRM you are able to cut cells in different ways (cut the beginning or the end, cut a part out of the middle), but this won't change the starting point of a chapter. Sure if you cut out the end of a cell which is the only one or the last one of a chapter you automatically change the end of the chapter too. Following this logic if you cut a cell at the beginning, there will be a new chapter starting point, but it is for sure not what we want. Right now you can add cells to a chapter and import movie parts into it but this won't change the first cell of that PTT. Also you can split your cell but again the new cell will be just the next cell in the program, and you can't choose it as a new chapter starting point. All these "can't do" things will be available soon in DRM as far as I know. I hope it was clear and free of any encyclopedic mistakes. I don't have any DVD-Video files on this computer to check my statements. Smile

I appriciate your help, but I'm even more confused. In your first reply, you say

But in your second reply, you say

I guess I should have been more clear in my original post. How do I add chapter stops to a DVD that has been authored without any chapter stops? I don't need to create a chapter selection menu, I just need to be able to hit the "next" button to advance the video. Thanks.

I think there is no contradiction in what you quoted. Same thing with different words. Or at least I meant that way... Laughing I have two movies of the kind you have, no chapter points at all. As I said earlier chapter point insertion is not possible with DRM yet. You can use DRM for the things I described above, but thast is not enough for a new chapter. It's coming soon.

leebo, since DRM can't add chapters yet, as an alternative, you can use NeroVision Express 2, or other authoring tools to add chapters.

Thanks. I happen to have NVE. So I just import an already authored DVD and add chapter points and export? BTW, the DRMPro page specifically states "add chapters".

> So I just import an already authored DVD and add chapter points and export? yep, just follow the steps in NVE. You can create menus too. You can also download more templates for more selection.

Hi leebo and welcome to the forums Smile you can add chapters but at the end of a PGC or at the start of a new PGC. You cannot insert a chapter (program cell) within a PGC though Sad. You can add a chapter if a program cell hasn't been assigned already though. You can assign chapters by right clicking Titles for that VTS using the Titles part in the Domain pane hope you follow Smile you probably could split the cells and then manually convert the cells to programs and then finally assign them but it's probably not worth the effort Sad I don't know how NVE works with chapters etc so I can't help there

just in case you didn't notice leebo, you can now add Chapters Smile first you would split the cell into chapter using the split here function. You can then convert a cell into a chapter by right clicking the cell. This will change it to a Program it doesn't however add the chapter to the Titles domain, so you still need to add those manually. You can use the 'insert' key and do it real quick though Smile

Yes, I saw that. I'm excited to try it out, but I have an older backed up and split movie that I want to try re-joining first. I don't have a lot of time these days, but I'll try to post after I try the chapter thing out. (It would help if I could run ReMake on both my home PC and my laptop, since I usually have that with me when I'm away from home).

DRM license agreement allows you to download it to another computer as far as copies are not used at the same time. So go ahead and download it to your laptop and use it when you are away from home. Wink
