ive recently reformatted my pc and now my cdr drive isnt reading blank cds or copied ones what can i do to help this please someone

PLease can we have some details of what your o/s is cd drive etc, brand of cdr tried and im sure we can get to the solution for uSmile

ok well my cdr drive is a panasonic/matshita 7568 and for some reason it isnt reading any thing else but original cds which is weird cause it worked fine before the reformat but ive used me for ages now i upgraded to windows xp it doesnt want to know i put a disc in it just spinds round and stops and thats it i get message saying please insert disc but they are blanks discs and various types nothing works

Sounds like WinXP thinks it`s just a CDRom and not a burner. Make sure you have the latest version of whatever burning software you normally use. Also, if you`ve only just installed XP, check on the Microsoft website in case there are any Windows updates needed.

Check with the CD-RW drive manufacturer and see if thee is a FirmWare update for the drive that may resolve this issue. Robert
