I have an app that will burn it's data to a CDR but there is so much data it will take several CDs/DVDs. I need a Virtural CDR drive (one that could be larger than 700meg ideally) that my app can be tricked into burning to. Than I can take those images which now have standard data and convert them to smaller files for archival. The app uses a Roxio plugin and I'm on WinXP. I've downloaded trials of Alchy 120 and Virtual Drive but they look like they make regular CD Drives. and can only burn via their own UI. Any ideas or leads would be great.

Your request isn't quite clear to me.....is the data already stored on virtual images? If so,you can mount the image(s) with Daemon-Tools or Alcohol 120%.....you can also use Isobuster or UltraIso to open the images and extract the files you want .

No the files are regular files that are in a format only the app can read. But it burns it using a Roxio plugin and burns a standard file type. I want to take those new standard files and pair them down to a small size I can then burn or archive more effectively. I just need something that will make the app with it's Roxio plug think it's burning to a CD but it's really burning to a virtual Disk or .iso. That I can later open/mount. The orginal files are too big to burn to CD to be practical. IMO that is. I'd rather have 3 disks than 10.

Often you can burn to a virtual writer which than writes an Image on the HDD for example Nero has such option, I guess Roxio also has this feature....... Only thing nero makes images in it's own format but those you could convert to ISO with Ultra ISO or a tool like it........

Checkout Farstone's Virtual Drive Pro. I haven't read all the details, but the newsest version has some CD buring related functions. I've used their standard version for a couple of years to emulate regular CD\DVD ROM drives. http://www.farstone.com/home/en/shtml/vdprooverview.shtml COST $70 Also, check out http://www.cdrom-emulator.com/. One of the features says... "Easy Built-in burner includes: test mode, possibility to write raw and subchannel data, create multisession disks, Track-At-Once/Session-At-Once writing methods. Supports ISO format " This makes me think that it should be able to emulate CD-RW drives too. COST $30 Robert
