| I just completed another project where I took "A Time To Kill" and joined the A & B sides together as 1 dvd. The process is very similar to the Pearl Harbor project but is significantly easier. "A Time To Kill" is an older movie and the menu system and extras are very simple. In this case, I was able to import both sides to DVDRemake Pro and edit it before sending it to DVDShrink. I'll post details later if anyone is interested, but the general process is: Import both discs into DVDRemake Pro. Select and copy the movie VTS from disc 2. Select "DVD" in disc 1 and "add copied VTS". Select VMG Titles and "add titles" for new VTS. Add 3 extra PGCs to the menu PGC section under Video Manager. Add commands in each new PGC to (a) jump to the root menu of disc 2 (b) jump to beginning of new vts to continue playing movie (c) jump back to root menu of disc 1. Choose an unused button on the menu for disc 1 and change it's command to jump to the menu PGC that sends it to the root menu of disc 2. Choose an unused button on the menu for disc 2 and change it's command to jump to the menu PGC that sends it to the root menu of disc 1. Edit VTS 1 Program Chain PGC 1 post commands to jump to menu PGC that sends it to play disc 2. Edit VTS 2 Program Chain PGC 1 post commands to jump to menu PGC that sends it to root menu of disc 1. |

| Here's the blow by blow for joining side a with side b. Of course you need to rip both sides to your hard drive first. 1. Import side a as project 1 into DVDRemake Pro 2. Import side b as project 2 into DVDRemake Pro 3. Select project 1, click on "Window" in the menu bar, click on "tile". 4. Select VTS 1 from side b (which should be project 2), right-click, and "copy VTS". 5. Select "DVD" from side a (which should be project 1), right-click, and "add copied VTS". 6. Close the project 2 window. 7. Expand Video Manager and then Menus. 8. Select VMG Titles, right-click in the VMG title window, and "add title" selecting the newly added VTS and title 1. 8. Right-click Menus and add 3 new menu PGCs. You should now have a PGC 3, PGC 4, and PGC 5. 9. Click on PGC 3. Select the "Pre Commands" tab in the window to the right. Right-click in the window and "add command". Edit the command to "Jump VMG Title 3". (This is the navigation to continue playing side "b"s VTS). 10. Click on PGC 4. Select the "Pre Commands" tab. Right-click and "add command". Edit the command to "Jump VTS 1 "root" menu (title 1)". (This is the navigation to return to the root menu of the side "a" VTS) 11. Click on PGC 5. Select the "Pre Commands" tab. Right-click and "add command". Edit the command to "Jump VTS 2 "root" menu (title 1)". (This is the navigation to jump to the side "b" VTS root menu). 12. Expand Video Title Set 1. Expand Menus. Select Menus. In the video window to the right, double click on the "Film Flash" button. Click on the (...) button. Edit the command to "Jump VMG PGC 5". (This is where we pass commands to the VMG menu section to route navigation to the side "b" root menu). 13. Expand Program Chains and select PGC 1. Select the "Post Commands" tab. Edit or replace the existing command to "Call VMG PGC 3 (resume cell 1)". (This is where we pass commands to the VMG menu section to route navigation to continue playing the side "b" VTS). 14. Expand Video Title Set 2. Expand Menus. Select Menus. In the video window to the right, double click on the "Film Flash" button. Click on the (...) button. Edit the command to "Jump VMG PGC 4". (This is where we pass commands to the VMG menu section to route navigation to the side "a" root menu). 15. Expand Program Chains and select PGC 1. Select the "Post Commands" tab. Edit or replace the existing command to "Call VMG PGC 4 (resume cell 1)". (This is where we pass commands to the VMG menu section to route navigation to the side "b" VTS root menu). 16. Save your project. Export a test dvd. Play it back in Mark's DVD Tray Player to make sure everything runs as you expect it to. 17. Export full dvd when you are satisfied and then process it in DVDShrink to fit on a 4.7 gig blank dvd. 17. Burn to your favorite media when you are satisfied with the playback. When you complete these steps, the DVD should start at the beginning of the movie (just the way this movie starts). When it reaches the end of disc a, it will continue playing disc b. If you press your remote's root menu button while playing side a and select the "Flash Film" menu button, it will switch you to the root menu of disc b. (Both menus are exactly the same so you will think that nothing happened when you selected this button. But if you select the "scenes" button you will see the chapters for disc b). If you press your remote's root menu button while playing side b and select the "Flash Film" button, you will be returned to the side a root menu. Same thing applies here. Select the scenes button and you will see chapter selections for side a. When the movie reaches the end without any interruptions, it will be sent back to the root menu of side a for you to choose "Play Movie" or select chapters or languages. |
