I was just curious about something.
Is Blu-ray's coding language the same as that used in DVDs?
What I mean is are the commands that have been created to do the various tasks like jumps, calls, links, if statements, etc. all the same as what we see being used in the Pre Commands and Post Commands?
Or, is the Blu-ray coding language a sort of SuperDVD language on steroids that they built on top of the standard DVD coding language?
Or, is the Blu-ray coding language a totally different animal from that of the DVD coding language? |

| Blu-ray has different syntax and different structures, but some parts are almost similar. You might want to read more about it at doom9 and videohelp forums. |

Thank you, toaddub. I'll do that (check out videohelp.com).
So, some parts are almost similar, you say. Does that mean that they did start from the existing DVD programming language as a starting point and then built on top of it rather than starting totally fresh? Or, did they start totally fresh? What's the story in a nutshell, if you could? Or, can you refer a good link for me? |

| I'm not up-to-date with this technology yet. You have to do some googling. |

| There is a Blue Ray section on cdfreaks.com. You may get some more answers there. |

| Thanks guys. I'll do that. I'm just a little curious about Blu-ray and that's the only reason I'm asking. I don't even have a Blu-ray player or a high-definition video monitor/TV (whatever they call it) to even take advantage of what capabilities Blu-ray can deliver. I don't even have plans to buy one until the prices come down as dramatically as they did with DVDs. I think DVDs are plenty good enough for me at the present time. |
