I haven't used V3 much at all, but decided to try it on a dvd for my nieces wedding. I ended up with 6 different pieces which ended up as "titles". So the menu had a "Name" across the top and I used one of the provided templates for the "titles".
My approach to all the dvd's I've ever done has been a "Main screen" with menu items and, if necessary (for chapters), a "sub-screen" for each Main Menu item. (I don't like to do it, but each "chapter" menu could also have sub-menus.) As you dig down through a menu item each "exit" moves you back one level. This DVD had NO chapters...just the 6 items.
When I play the DVD on my PC (WinDVD7) it works OK. On my big TV, using the Cyberhome DVD recorder, it works fine also, but on my Samsung DVD player, it goes from the "title" menu to a "Root" menu (that displays the filename at the top) and requires a click on "play" to play the video. I don't understand this. (I DID check "skip root menu initially)
I guess my basic problem is I'm not understanding Title Menu vs Root Menu.
I've never dealt with a "root menu"....what is it's function? Can I eliminate it completely?
Could someone explain this to me?
Thanks...

Just me again....
I think I've figured out that if the particular video clip plays to the end, it returns to the "Title" entry but if it is interrupted, it goes to the "Root" entry.
At least I think so....
I'll keep pluggin' away.

Please download the manual. Many of your questions will be answered there. Also, here's a chart of what each template can do regarding menus: http://forums.vso-software.fr/overview-available-template-options-t6119.html.
In short, title menu is actually the main menu. Root menu is the menu for each title, and a place to go into the chapter menu and settings (for multi-audio and subtitle selections) menu, if any.
| Code: | title menu

root root (title N)
menu menu
(title 1) (title 2)

Thanks for the response.....that'll keep me quiet for a while. I looked at the referenced information and it's a bit more than I want to digest for now. I WILL come back to it tho'.
