Sorry you haven't gotten a good response yet...but for what it's worth, I've got both a TDK DVDRW0404N and a LG HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B. I suspect they're already 'yesterday's news', but of the two, the LG has worked for me. My brother (a big cybergeek) has a Plextor and can't say enough good things about it. So go either way, Plextor or LG, you should be able to get a decent dvd burner for less than a $100. Good luck.

| An RCA........? Good golly, rip that pile of junk outta your box guy! That brand, and Memorex, are only fit to be pistol targets. Here's the quick drill: 1. Reliability vs cost [Plextor, LG, Sharp, good...] 2.Flexiblility with media (how many different brands can the burner digest) [Sony, Memorex, bad...] 3. Ignore the software bundled with the burner, unless it's Nero. Most of it is clunkly and useless. Come into the light jwo62... |

| Yes I m getting confused too. If there is a moderator of this forum viewing can I suggest that the term DVD Recorder is used for a stand alone box that is used with your TV and that the term DVD Rewriter is used for a PC (or MAC) based device. I am sure the original post relates to DVD recorders as defined above. |
